Dear Parents,
Last night the International Baccalaureate (IB) gave advance notice to IB Coordinators, Examiners and School Heads that they will not be running the Grade 12 IB Diploma examinations in May. There will be an official announcement at 8am GMT today (4pm Singapore time). However, many students and families have already heard the news through different channels.
The IB will have full details on what this means for our students on Friday, 27 March. This will include a set of FAQs that will also clarify our questions about refunds from the IB for exam fees that have already been paid. In the meantime we are working through the implications for our community. The Boarding Houses will also be in touch with families of boarders about what this means for them.
This is a significant disappointment for our students in terms of completing their year. However, all students will be receiving the UWCSEA High School Diploma (which is accredited by CIS and WASC) to mark the completion of their studies in the College, and we are looking at ways to celebrate their achievements. High School Principals have already written to Grade 12 students and parents, and further communications regarding what happens next for our students will come directly from the school Principals.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Yours sincerely,
Elizabeth Bray, Head of UWCSEA Dover
Graham Silverthorne, Head of UWCSEA East
