Dear Parents,

We write to inform you that one of our boarders from East Campus, who recently arrived in Singapore and was serving SHN in a government facility off-campus, has tested positive for COVID-19. Thankfully the student is asymptomatic and feeling well, but has been transferred to hospital and is under observation. We have been in touch with the family and the student is being cared for by the Singapore health authorities and the medical team at the hospital.

As is usual in such cases, the Ministry of Health (MoH) is conducting contact tracing. Since the student was in a government facility, they had no contact with any students or staff from UWCSEA.

It is reassuring to know that the precautions the authorities have put in place for students entering Singapore have been carefully observed and have helped to protect our wider community. As more members of our community return to Singapore, it remains critical that we all continue to follow protocols, keeping travel and health declarations up to date and monitoring our health and that of our families closely.

We are fully committed to transparent communications and will inform you if a student or staff member becomes a confirmed COVID-19 case. Together, we can keep our community safe and healthy.

Yours sincerely,

Elizabeth Bray, Head of UWCSEA Dover
Graham Silverthorne, Head of UWCSEA East
