Dear Parents,

We write with some preliminary information about our Holiday Activities Programme, UWCSEA –  Together, Active and Well

We plan to offer four weeks of Activities, from Monday, 6 to Thursday, 30 July. The programme will be open to all current students (K–12). The College will cover 80% of the total cost of the programme, with parents paying the balance for the activities selected. We will continue with necessary health, hygiene and safe distancing measures such as temperature taking, frequent cleaning and maintaining small groups.

The overall goal of the programme is to provide students with opportunities to:

  • be together with fellow students after prolonged time apart
  • get active through fun, engaging and creative developmental activities
  • stay well with full health and safety measures in place

There will be a broad range of choices across sports and fitness, visual and performing arts, and home and foreign languages, as well as a varied menu of enrichment opportunities.

We will share the timetable and sign-up process during the week beginning 15 June, after the Committee for Private Education (CPE) has approved our approach. Because of safe distancing guidelines, we are limited in how many students we can have on campus at any one time; and we must avoid inter-mingling of groups. This does limit our offering somewhat. A few key points to be aware of:

  • students will be allowed to sign up for one activity/camp per week as part of the necessary safe distancing measures
  • students will be able to indicate several choices for each week (in order of preference) and will then be allocated to one based on demand and availability
  • the majority of activities will be offered over 3 to 5 days in a given week, for 2–4 hours
  • parents will need to arrange transportation; there will be no bus service option

The programme will be staffed by UWCSEA staff and coaches, external providers who have consistently worked at College through our regular Activities programme, and additionally a number of our recent graduates who will be providing support across the activities.

We thank you for your patience as we finalise the offerings and sign-up system and get approval from CPE. Our goal is to provide further details and begin sign ups next week, prior to the end of term.

Yours sincerely,

Elizabeth Bray, Head of UWCSEA Dover
Graham Silverthorne, Head of UWCSEA East
