Dear Parents,

Thank you all for your messages of support after our home-based learning (HBL) announcement yesterday. We appreciate your care and kindness.

Home-based learning

The students and teachers were on campus today, setting up for the transition to home-based learning. Please read yesterday’s message for details of what will be happening tomorrow, Wednesday, in each school section, or refer to each Principal’s message, sent yesterday evening.

From Thursday, and allowing for exam schedules, students from Grade 2 to Grade 11 will participate fully in HBL. You can visit this parent site to view details of our approach. Teachers will be monitoring student engagement with home-based learning, and will contact parents if they see any issues. A reminder also, particularly to working parents, that it will not necessarily be easy to supervise child(ren)’s home-based learning. Be kind to yourselves. The routine is important, but it is also important to make sure to occasionally break the routine, especially at this time of the school year. Please reach out to the teacher, Head of Grade or Principal if you are experiencing ongoing concerns.

Please click here for information from our IT team about accessing the online systems for HBL and what to do if there are any issues. Please read it carefully and remember that itsupport@uwcsea.edu.sg is the main contact point for anyone experiencing technical issues.

Travel Plans

Some families have asked about the possibility of leaving for their home country early. A reminder that the Singapore Government is advising everyone not to travel, and our expectation is that if you are not a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident, and you choose to leave for a 'non-safe' country, you will experience difficulty returning to Singapore. Please refer to our earlier message with details of travel declarations, delayed entry, limited provision for home-based learning and special arrangements for families who have to withdraw because they cannot return to Singapore.

As our community separates once more, and you work to balance the needs of your work, your children and your families near and far, we share a reminder of all we achieved during Circuit Breaker last year. Please remember that our community of teachers and support staff are here to support you and your children.

We are hopeful that after this period we will have the opportunity to come back together on campus to celebrate the strength and resilience of our community.

Yours sincerely,

Nick Alchin, Head of UWCSEA East
Elizabeth Bray, Head of UWCSEA Dover
