Dear Parents,
The last week has seen our community adjusting to the ‘new normal’ as we get used to the measures put in place in response to COVID-19. We are very grateful for your support. We are also grateful for all the kind gestures within the community: free cups of coffee for staff appearing on campus, a lovely surprise gift from our parent community; a huge delivery of cheesecake to our Boarding Houses, an unexpected treat to our Boarding students from one of our senior staff; delivery of thermometers from Governors who have been helping to source them globally; students and teachers helping to translate key communications into Chinese; and many, many more individual acts of kindness and connection across our whole community. During this challenging time, we are definitely a united community.
Last week, we hosted an important meeting with the Committee for Private Education (CPE) and the Heads of several other international schools. It was an opportunity to ensure the effectiveness of the measures each school was taking, despite minor differences in approach. We finished the meeting feeling very supported by the Singapore authorities and with an increased understanding of their emerging requirements.
Many of you will be aware of the new Stay-Home Notice, announced by the Ministry of Health yesterday. We are awaiting further advisory from CPE on what it will mean for our community in terms of travel declarations and/or other reporting requirements, and will be back in touch with you as soon as we have more information.
Thank you all once more for your support.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Bray, Head of UWCSEA Dover
Graham Silverthorne, Head of UWCSEA East
