Dear Parents,

We hope that you have all had a wonderful break with your families and friends and that your children are looking forward to returning to school for what will be a very exciting Term 3. In just two weeks, we have the UWCSEA Forum with an amazing lineup of speakers, interactive sessions and virtual booths.

We are also delighted to be returning this term with a significant relaxation of safe management measures on campus and we write now with a summary of the changes. There is a lot of information to share, so please do take the time to read through this email in detail.

Parents and carers on campus
Parents and carers are now permitted to come onto campus at any time including to drop your child(ren) to their classroom (Infant School). You may also move about our campuses more freely.

When reading through the following information please keep these requirements in mind:

  • you must be vaccinated
  • you must check-in using your TT app or token
Note: on Dover Campus please look for Safe-Entry QR code posters, or check-in at the security desk near reception using your TT token.
  • you must wear your grey parent / carer lanyard at all times and ensure it is clearly visible
  • you must wear a mask if you enter an air conditioned space

External visitors to campus must also be vaccinated and have an Envoy invite. They must check-in at the security desk on arrival. This is the same process that was in place pre-Covid and is for child safeguarding purposes.

Mask-on and mask-off areas
With the latest announcement regarding the removal of masks in outdoor spaces, we have a clear guidance from CPE which states that in air conditioned areas students, staff and parents are required to wear their masks; in non-air conditioned areas students, staff and parents are not required to wear their masks.

There will be a period of adjustment to this change and to help with the transition and we have created a table outlining some of the mask-on and mask-off areas below for reference.

Mask on in air conditioned areas, for example:

Mask off in non-air conditioned areas, for example:

classrooms, labs, workshops and study areas

sports fields, pitches, pools and courts

theatres, convention centres and exam halls

 gardens and playgrounds

 offices and common rooms

 canteens (non-air conditioned)

 cafe and PA lounge

 carparks and bus bays

 lifts and buses

ropes courses (Dover) and rock climbing (East)

Please note that mask removal in outdoor spaces is optional and you / your child may make their own arrangements in keeping with your level of comfort.

There has also been some change to group sizes and social distancing requirements based on mask-wearing. Please see the table below for the latest update to group sizes.

Student vaccination status and declaration
With this welcome relaxation of measures on campus comes the added responsibility to ensure that your child(ren)'s vaccination declaration is up to date in CIMS. Please check their records and if your child(ren) requires a booster dose in order to maintain a 'vaccinated' status, please ensure they receive it within the required timeframe so that it doesn't lapse.

Student participation in unmasked activities
For some time now, students have been permitted to participate in PE classes and selective instrumental, dance and drama classes without a mask. This permission has now been extended to include singing. This is such welcome news for our music teachers and for students.

There will be special requirements in place to allow unvaccinated students to participate in these activities, unmasked; these requirements will be shared with all parents in a separate email in the coming days.

These changes are exciting for us all and represent a welcome sense of coming back together as a community. We are very much looking forward to seeing happy faces around the non-air conditioned campus spaces and being able to see one another’s smiles once more.

There is so much to look forward to in our final term of the school year, we can’t wait to welcome you back to campus.

Your sincerely,

Nick Alchin, Head of UWCSEA East
Elizabeth Bray, Head of UWCSEA Dover
